Privacy Policy
This extension stores data only on your device. We do not operate a backend that receives your Instagram data.
What the extension does
Story Tracker runs in your browser on Instagram story pages you open. When you start monitoring, it reads the on-screen story viewers list (usernames and order), compares it to previous snapshots, and shows local “rewatch” signals in the extension popup.
Data collected / stored
- Viewer usernames and list positions from the story viewers UI
- Local counters and timestamps for detected upward moves
- Your extension settings (interval, settle wait, etc.)
This information is saved with the browser’s local extension storage
(chrome.storage.local). It is not uploaded to our servers —
we do not run analytics or ad networks in this extension.
Permissions
- storage — save settings and viewer memory on your device
- tabs / activeTab — talk to the Instagram tab you are using
- instagram.com — read the viewers list on story pages
Third parties
The extension interacts with Instagram’s website in your logged-in session. Instagram’s own privacy policy applies to your use of Instagram. This extension does not sell or share your data with third parties.
Data retention & deletion
Data remains until you click Clear memory in the popup, remove the extension, or clear site/extension data in your browser.
Children
This extension is not directed at children under 13.
